We shouldn’t feed our Frenchies table scraps and other human food, but most of us do it occasionally. But be careful! Many of the foods we eat every day are extremely dangerous to our Frenchies, which is why knowing which human foods they can and cannot eat is so important!
Having these foods in moderation will prevent your Frenchie from becoming overweight.
The French will eat just about anything… but that doesn’t mean they should!
It’s not a good idea to feed your Frenchie table scraps.
Yeah yeah, we all know this. We get it. Sometimes you just can’t say no to those puppy eyes.
Generally speaking, most of the food we eat isn’t good for our dogs, but everything on this list is fine! However, dogs, just like people, can sometimes have allergies to foods which other dogs are fine with. To be safe, always feed your dog a small amount, and wait most of a day to make sure there are no bad reactions. Allergic reactions can include sneezing, developing hives, developing hot spots, itching, coughing, strange behavior, vomiting, loose stool, or frequent urination.

2. Peanut Butter is OK for Frenchies!
Can French Bulldogs eat Peanut Butter?
Peanut butter is safe for French Bulldogs as long as it’s all natural and doesn’t contain xylitol (which is extremely toxic to dogs). Make sure you read the ingredients list carefully.
After all, what dog doesn’t like peanut butter? Peanut butter is one of my Frenchie’s favorite treats!
Peanut butter: what makes it so good
A tablespoon of peanut butter has only a few calories and fat, but it’s a great source of protein and fiber too!
It has always been my practice to bribe my pets with peanut butter to eat their medications. In case your Frenchie is fussy and won’t take their medicine, remember this tip!
3. Yogurt
Can French Bulldogs eat Yogurt?
Yogurt is okay in small quantities, but your Frenchie shouldn’t consume too much of it. Dairy is not easily digestible by dogs, and too much can cause digestive problems in them.
What makes Yogurt good
It’s the active bacteria found in yogurt that makes yogurt great for pups who can digest it! This strengthens the digestive system with probiotics. Check to make sure it doesn’t contain added sugars or artificial sweeteners, such as Xylitol, before feeding it to your Frenchie!
4. Cheese
Can French Bulldogs eat Cheese?
Cheese is fine for most Frenchies to eat – you’ll want to keep their portions small though. Dairy may not be suitable for some Frenchies, as just as in humans, some might have allergies to lactose or other elements in the cheese.
Whether they’re lactose intolerant or not, some dogs just can’t digest cheese as well as others.
They might experience upset stomachs, gas, diarrhea, or other digestive issues when they eat cheese or other dairy products.
Even small amounts of dairy can cause problems for lactose intolerant dogs.
What makes Cheese good
It is high in protein, calcium, vitamin A, essential fatty acids, and B-complex vitamins, which are all important for the health of your French bulldog.
Look for cheeses with low fat and sodium content when feeding your French Bulldog. The healthy choices are mozzarella and cottage cheese.
5. Protiens like Chicken, Turkey & Beef
Many dog foods, raw diets, and treats contain these three sources of protein.
If you want to spoil your Frenchie while also being kind, just make sure you’re feeding them lean proteins. Chicken and turkey are better than beef, generally. You also want to make certain they haven’t been cooked in fatty oils, wines, or other ingredients.
Some plain old chicken or turkey from the deli is perfect!
What makes Chicken, Turkey & Beef good
When it comes to protein, there’s not much better than this. These are the main ingredients in most dog foods you’ll find on the market.
6. Salmon
As long as the salmon is fresh (would you eat it?), you’re good-to-go.
What makes Salmon good
Salmon is a great source of protein for your pup. Just aOmega-3 fatty acids found in salmon are beneficial not only to humans, but also to your pets! French Bulldogs benefit from these fatty acids for a variety of reasons, including the health of their coat and skin, as well as numerous other benefits.
Some other benefits of the Omega-3 fatty acids in salmon are
- improving eye health
- and promoting brain health
- as well as heart health
- Inflammation reduction
